Prepare your setup and find the right place for your next compatible mod.
Prepare the required loader
Install the loader and dependencies specified by the client using their official sources. Launch that game profile once to make sure it works.
Locate the mods folder
Find the mods folder inside the Minecraft installation you actually use. The common default locations are listed alongside this guide; custom launchers may use another directory.
Add the compatible mod
With Minecraft closed, place the compatible .jar in the mods folder. Follow the client’s own instructions for archives or other formats, and inspect downloads before opening them.
Launch and customize
Start the matching profile and review the available settings and keybindings. If a new mod causes a conflict, remove it and restart. Follow the rules of servers you join.
